Six more Warriors taken in Major League Baseball draft

Six more Lewis-Clark State baseball players were selected in this year’s Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. 

Infielder Micah Brown was selected by the Miami Marlins in the 19th round.  The Medford, Oregon native hit .314 with a team-high 3 triples along with 6 homeruns and was 12-for-15 in stolen bases.  Brown is the second in his family to be drafted.  His older brother, and former Warrior Seth was drafted by the Oakland A’s following the 2015 season.

Senior right-hander Kevin Hamann was taken by St. Louis in the 22nd round.  The Bend, Oregon native went 16-and-2 in two seasons with LC.  This year, Hamann went 8-and-1 on the mound and tied for the team lead in wins.

Right-handed reliever Henry McAree was selected by Miami in the 29th round.  The senior from Shoreline, Washington went 3-and-1 with 2 saves and an ERA of 2.22.  He struck out 63 hitters in just 44-and-2-thirds innings this season while walking just 9.

Senior shortstop Seaver Whalen was taken by Tampa Bay in the 32nd round.  In his only season with LC, the Vancouver, Washington native batted .318 with 12 homers and 51 RBI.

Colfax, Washington senior J.J. Robinson was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 33rd round.  The Warrior designated hitter led the team in nearly every offensive category, including a .340 batting average, 22 homeruns, 14 doubles and 67 RBI.

Senior catcher Cooper Goldby was selected by Oakland in the 35th round.  The senior from Yuba City, California hit .328 this season with seven doubles and 1 homerun.

The seven total Warriors drafted is the second most in program history for a single draft behind only the 2007 team which had eight players selected.  (KOZE Sports)
