Snake River Avenue in Lewiston is closed in both directions between the Southway Avenue roundabout and the Southway Bridge due a gas line break in the area.
Officials say a backhoe digging in the area struck the gas line, and Avista Utility crews are on scene to assess the situation.
There is no word yet on when the road will re-open.
