Idaho U.S. Rep. Raul Labrador is running for governor.

The four-term congressman on Tuesday filed paperwork with the Idaho Secretary of State’s Office indicating he will make a gubernatorial run in 2018.  By filing his form for candidacy, Labrador can legally begin campaigning, accepting donations, and expending funds.

Labrador is the fourth Republican to announce his candidacy in the race, joining Boise businessman Tommy Ahlquist, Lt. Gov. Brad Little, and former state Sen. Russ Fulcher.  Three-term incumbent Gov. Butch Otter is not seeking re-election next year.

Labrador’s gubernatorial pursuit also opens up the race for the 1st Congressional District seat that he’s held since 2011.  (LMT)
