Lewiston School District architects say construction on a new high school could begin next spring.

Architects on Monday provided the Lewiston School Board and faculty members at Lewiston High School and Sacajawea Junior High with a tentative timeline for the new LHS as well as a separate career and technical education center to be built in the Orchards.

The pre-construction process already in motion includes an updated traffic study, establishing zoning requirements, and finalizing the property platting process.

Officials say construction could start sooner on the technical education center, but it won’t be occupied until the entire school is complete.

The new 200,000-square-foot high school on Warner Avenue will replace the existing Normal Hill campus, while also adding 9th grade students.  Currently LHS has students in 10th through 12th grades.  (LMT)
