Idaho’s spring chinook fishing season is underway, while Washington’s season opens later this week.

In Idaho, the season runs Thursdays through Sundays on the Clearwater River and portions of its north, south and middle forks, with a daily bag limit of four hatchery chinook, of which only one can be an adult.

Anglers can fish chinook seven days a week on the lower Salmon and Little Salmon rivers, and the Snake River in the upper portion of Hells Canyon with the same bag limit but a maximum of two adult fish.

Washington’s Snake River spring chinook salmon fishing season opens Friday and Saturday at Ice Harbor Dam downstream about 7 miles to the southbound bridge over U.S. Highway 12, and April 30th and May 1st at Clarkston and Little Goose Dam.

Near Clarkston, the river will open from the Idaho/Washington state line downstream to the large transmission lines crossing the river just above West Evans Road, while at Little Goose Dam, fishing stretches from the dam to the Texas Rapids boat launch.  The two-day seasons at each location will reoccur weekly until the state’s quota of spring chinook is met.  The daily bag limit is six hatchery spring chinook, with a maximum of one adult chinook.  (Lewiston Tribune)
