A Spokane man is in custody after leading authorities on a high-speed chase through north-central Idaho early Tuesday morning.

According to the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy attempted to stop a Honda sedan just north of Lewiston on Highway 95 at about 1:30 a.m.  The suspect vehicle continued north at high speeds past Genesee.

Idaho State Police deployed spikes, puncturing two of the car’s tires near Moscow.  The remaining tires were flattened by spikes in the south end of Moscow, but the Honda continued into the city and turned east onto Highway 8.  After about a mile, the driver lost control and left the roadway just east of Mountain View Road.

The driver, identified as 21-year-old Jaysen Statton, was taken into custody and booked in the Latah County Jail on charges of felony eluding, possession of a stolen vehicle, and a felony warrant out of Spokane County.

More charges are expected in Nez Perce County. (NPC Sheriff)
