There were fewer car accident fatalities during the first month of Idaho’s 100 Deadliest Days this summer than a year ago.

According to the Idaho State Police, there have been 20 deaths from car accidents statewide since Memorial Day, down from 34 deaths over the same time period in 2018. During the entirety of the 100 Deadliest Days last year, car crashes claimed 101 lives in the Gem State. Authorities are hoping their efforts are helping people stay safe on the roads and are making a difference in the number of fatalities this year.

ISP says people need to understand that it’s their decisions that matter – whether to drive impaired, drive tired, how fast they drive, and in the manner they drive.

Troopers stress some basic life-saving measures people can take in order to keep themselves and their families safe, including wearing seat belts, getting plenty of rest before long summer drives, and making sure their vehicles are ready for the summer road.   (KMVT.com)
