The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather warning for the LC Valley and surrounding areas Wednesday afternoon and continuing through late Wednesday night.

Several fast moving and intense cells are expected to move into the region through 10pm. Areas affected should expect potential heavy rain, large hail and damaging winds – with gusts potentially in excess of 55 to 65 mph.

The Lewiston Fire Department has increased staffing in anticipation of an increase in potential calls for service. The public is urged to prepare for the storms by securing objects that may be prone to being lifted or blown away, and covering or bringing items inside that may be damaged by downpours and hail.

Power outages are a possibility, and the public is reminded that any wire down should be treated as if its live.  (National Weather Service, Lewiston Fire Department)
