The Lewiston School Board has ratified a tentative agreement for the 2019-20 school year that includes a 3.1 percent salary increase for certified employees such as teachers and counselors.

The Lewiston Education Association, which represents teachers in the district, meets Tuesday to vote on ratification.

Along with the increase to the base salary, the tentative agreement allows eligible employees to advance one step on the salary schedule, and includes advancement opportunities for educational attainment. Separate contracts for classified staff and administrators will tentatively be approved in June.

The pact also outlines a timeline and process to allow employees to indicate in which school they would like to be placed once the district undergoes a reconfiguration in the 2020-21 school year.

The new high school will serve grades nine through twelve, while the junior highs will become middle schools to serve sixth through eighth grades, which – in turn – will change the structure of the elementary schools. (Lewiston Tribune)
