Authorities say human remains found Sunday near Buffalo Eddy on the Snake River have been positively identified as those of a Grangeville woman who went missing a year ago.

The Idaho County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday confirmed the remains of Shawnta Pankey, who disappeared in April 2018 under suspicious circumstances. Pankey was last seen when she and her boyfriend reportedly camped at Pine Bar along the Salmon River south of Cottonwood.

The sheriff’s office says the investigation into Pankey’s death continues. (Lewiston Tribune)
