The Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public of potential flooding in the county.

With the heavy, steady rains over the past several days and the melting of this winter’s snowpack, there has been some minor flooding in the areas of US Highway 95 between Culdesac and Lapwai, Webb Road and Garden Gulch Road.

Officials are monitoring Winchester Dam and are releasing water due to the large amount of run off coming into the lake. The release is accounting for much of the water in Lapwai Creek along US Highway 95.

The sheriff’s office cautions the public on the dangers of driving in standing water and to stay away from swollen creeks.

If an emergency does arise, call 911 immediately.

To report areas of flooding in Nez Perce County contact the sheriff’s office at 208-799-3131.
