Idaho House rejects plan to take state off daylight saving time

An Idaho legislative proposal to exempt the Gem State from daylight saving time has failed in the House.

Friday’s 55-15 vote rejected the measure by Republican Representative Christy Zito, who says the time change can cause problems for businesses, ranchers and farmers, as well as health issues.

Lawmakers who spoke against the bill say it would harm businesses that rely on recreation that often occurs in the late afternoon and evening. Other lawmakers noted that it would prevent them from having an extra hour playing with their children outside in daylight. (AP)
