Lewiston man arrested on assault, burglary charges

A Lewiston man is under arrest after allegedly burglarizing a home and assaulting two residents. 

Lewiston Police say 31-year-old Robert Kay was caught inside a home located on the 1100 block of 12th Avenue shortly after 3pm Christmas Day when residents of the house returned. 

Kay was reportedly confronted by the residents and a fight ensued. During the altercation, another resident called Lewiston Police, who arrived to witness Kay swinging a lamp. LPD took Kay into custody. 

Two residents were treated for head injuries and lacerations at the scene and were later transported to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center for additional treatment. 

Kay was booked into the Nez Perce County Jail for investigation of aggravated assault, burglary and malicious injury to property. (Lewiston Police)
