Idaho Elections: Medicaid expansion passes, horse racing terminal measure fails

idaho-flag-2

Idaho voters have approved the expansion of Medicaid coverage to potentially more than 62,000 low-income adults across the state.

Proposition 2 passed with 61 percent approval. The expansion will cover those who earned too much to qualify for Medicaid under Idaho’s current criteria, but didn’t earn enough to be able to get subsidized health insurance coverage under the state health insurance exchange.

Idaho’s Proposition 1 – authorizing historical horse racing at certain locations where live or simulcast horse racing occurs – was defeated with 54 percent no votes. (Idaho Secretary of State’s Office)
