The first-degree murder trial of a Lewiston man is underway in Latah County.

Court proceedings began Monday in Moscow in the case of 56-year-old Patrick Nuxoll, who’s accused of fatally stabbing and slashing his friend David Cramer at Nuxoll’s Lewiston home in May 2015. Prosecutors allege Nuxoll stabbed and slashed Cramer nearly 130 times.

Nuxoll claims Cramer’s brother killed the victim while Nuxoll was sleeping. Nuxoll reportedly called 911 after he awoke to find Cramer covered in blood and lacerations.

The two had been drinking together earlier in the evening.

Nez Perce County 2nd District Judge Jeff Brudie is presiding over the trial which was moved to Latah County after attempts to seat an unbiased jury in Lewiston failed. The trial is expected to last two weeks. (Lewiston Tribune)
