Asotin County lifts emergency burn ban on campfires

Asotin County commissioners have lifted an emergency burn ban on recreational fires.

Monday’s move comes as cooler temperatures have reduced the risk of wildfires, and farmers are asking to spot burn now that harvest has wrapped up.

Campfires and outdoor fire pits are allowed in unincorporated areas of the county, but open burning of yard waste won’t be legal until October 15th.

Permits for agricultural spot burns can be obtained from the Asotin County Conservation District. (Lewiston Tribune)
