UI student killed, four injured in car accident near Clearwater Casino

A University of Idaho student was killed and four others were injured Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident near the Clearwater River Casino east of Lewiston.

According to the Idaho State Police, 20-year-old Katherine Groggett of Mountain Home was driving a Toyota Corolla just after 1 PM when she attempted to turn left onto Highway 95 from Nez Perce Road. Her car was struck on the driver’s side by a northbound 2000 Dodge Durango.

Groggett was pronounced deceased at the scene, while two of her passengers and the Durango’s driver and passenger were taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston for treatment. All involved were wearing seatbelts.
