LCSC secures NAIA World Series extension

Lewis-Clark State College has secured a contract extension that will keep the NAIA World Series in Lewiston through the spring of 2024. LC Athletic Director Brooke Henze says negotiations have been underway for about two years.

Under the new contract, beginning in 2022, the LC baseball team will qualify for the World Series only if it wins a national opening round tournament that will also be hosted in Lewiston. In essence, Lewiston could possibly host a World Series without the host team for the first time ever, which may have a drastic impact on attendance numbers. Despite the potential loss in revenue, Henze says nothing will change in terms of the college’s financial obligation to the event.

Henze says she believes fans of the tournament will still attend even if the Warriors aren’t among the 10 team field.

LC will enjoy the automatic berth as the host team through the 2021 season.
