Rattlesnake Fire grows, evacuations ordered

Increased activity on the Rattlesnake Creek wildfire south of Riggins has forced fire managers to issue a Level 3 Immediate Evacuation notice for all residences from the county line at milepost 182 to the Hillman Basin Road near milepost 178 on the west side of U.S. Highway 95. 

Additionally, a Level 2 Evacuation order has been issued for residences near the Boulder Creek Bridge at milepost 177 to the Smokey Boulder Road at milepost 171 on the west side of the highway. 

The blaze has grown to nearly 7,500 acres over the last few days. 375 personnel are assigned to the human-caused fire that’s been burning since July 23rdd. 

The fire is now listed at 31 percent. (USFS)
