Finalists for Lewiston Police Chief position announced

Lewiston officials have released the names of the five finalists looking to become the new Chief of Police. 

City officials have been looking for a new chief since Chris Ankeny quit the job in January after serving in the position for less than three years. Ankeny stepped down, citing differences of opinion with City Manager Alan Nygaard. 

The finalists include: Interim Police Chief Budd Hurd who has been at the department for 28 years. 

Scott Mullennix, of Spokane. Mullennix is part of the Campus Safety Leadership Team for Spokane Public Schools and is originally from Lewiston. 

La Center, Washington Police Chief Marc Denney.  

Mike Lester, assistant chief over the operations bureau at the Vancouver, Washington Police Department. 

And Thomas Garrity, deputy district commander of the Central District in the Prince William County Police Department in Virginia. 

The five candidates will meet with the public August 16th before city officials receive public input and a final candidate emerges.  (Lewiston Tribune)
