The driver in last weekend’s fatal car accident in the Clarkston Heights faces several charges, including vehicular homicide.

Callen Wessels was released this week from the Asotin County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

The 21-year-old Clarkston man was arrested early Sunday morning after allegedly leaving the scene of an accident near Ben Johnson Road and Pitchstone Drive that left 19-year-old Jared Lee dead. Authorities say Wessels initially told police a false story, before conveying to investigators he had been drinking and shouldn’t have been driving that night.

He is scheduled to be arraigned August 6th on charges of vehicular homicide, hit-and-run death, reckless driving, and second-degree perjury in Asotin County Superior Court. (Lewiston Tribune)
