Clarkston considers traffic improvements near WalMart, Costco

Clarkston residents have a chance later this month comment on a proposal to add a new entrance to WalMart.

The retailer wants to add an entry point along Fair Street, near the intersection of Seventh, with Walmart covering all of the costs, including new signs and striping. City officials back the idea, saying it would alleviate some traffic congestion on Fifth Street near WalMart and Costco.

The public hearing is scheduled for June 25th.

Meanwhile, the city is also discussing the idea of partnering with the two retailers to add a pair of mini-roundabouts to the Fifth Street corridor between the businesses. The move to increase traffic flow would make unnecessary the traffic signal at Fifth and Fair streets, and it would be removed. (Lewiston Tribune)
