Authorities continue to search for a Grangeville woman who has been missing for a couple weeks.

25-year-old Shawnta Pankey was last seen on the morning of April 15th when she and her boyfriend reportedly were camped at Pine Bar along the Salmon River south of Cottonwood. The boyfriend says the couple had an argument and Pankey took off on foot.

The Idaho County Sheriff’s Office says detectives have looked into a tip from a man who reported a possible sighting of the woman. The man and his family were driving along Rice Creek when they reported seeing a woman walking up the road about 3 miles from where the creek flows into the Salmon River. Searchers have since combed the area.

A previous report a man in a pickup truck with Utah license plates was checked out but found not to be related to the case.

Pankey is described as 5-feet-4 inches tall, and weighing 135 pounds with long, red, curly hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a blue-and-green tank top, blue jeans, pink cowboy boots, and possibly carrying a brown leather purse.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office at 208-983-1100. (Lewiston Tribune)
