A Pullman teenager charged in the death of a Pullman High School student entered into a plea agreement with prosecutors Tuesday afternoon in Latah County 2nd District Court.

17-year-old Keagan Tennant pled guilty to involuntary manslaughter with a sentencing enhancement, aggravated assault, principal to destruction, alteration or concealment of evidence and robbery.  It is still up to Judge John Stegner whether the plea agreement will be approved. If it is, Tennant is scheduled to be sentenced in Latah County 2nd District Court March 20th.

According to court documents, witnesses say Tennant was pointing a .30-06 bolt-action rifle at 18-year-old Tim Reeves – who in turn was aiming a silver Smith and Wesson .38-caliber revolver at Tennant – when Tennant allegedly fired and killed Reeves the morning of July 17th during a camping trip east of Troy.

Tennant also allegedly shot at another witness on the camping trip, hid Reeves’ body, stole a pizza delivery car at gunpoint and fled with 18-year-old Matthew McKetta of Moscow, to Curlew, Washington, about 10 miles south of the Canadian border.  Tennant has since told police during interviews that he didn’t know the rifle was loaded.

Under the plea agreement, Tennant’s original attempted murder charge would be amended to aggravated assault.

Tennant could face up to as many as 40 years in prison and fines totaling $75,000.  (Lewiston Tribune)
