A Lewiston double murder suspect who was arrested in Oregon has waived extradition and is expected back in the L-C Valley this week.

73-year-old Richard Carlin was arrested at a Stanfield truck stop November 21st, hours after being reported fleeing and accused of killing his ex-wife and daughter in Lewiston, and leaving his grandson badly injured.

He faces two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of 72-year-old Raetta Carlin and 50-year-old Michelle Carlin, who both had signs of blunt force trauma and strangulation, and one count of attempted murder for allegedly stabbing his 20-year-old grandson.

Richard Carlin has been held in the Umatilla County Jail fighting extradition until Monday.  No governor’s warrant is necessary now that he has waived extradition and local law enforcement will transfer him to Lewiston.

Carlin is being held on $1 million bail and is expected to appear in a Nez Perce County courtroom this week. (Lewiston Tribune)
