An Asotin County law enforcement officer was taken into custody in Lewiston Sunday following an altercation with his wife.
Authorities say Undersheriff Scott Coppess was arrested on a charge of misdemeanor domestic battery by Lewiston Police and booked into the Nez Perce County Jail. LPD says the alleged incident that led to the arrest was between Coppess and his wife at the family’s Lewiston home at about 2:30 AM.
Coppess has been with the sheriff’s office for about 12 years.
He was placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. (Lewiston Tribune)
