ITD opens all but one Idaho driver’s licensing offices with limited service

The Idaho Transportation Department has opened all but one county driver’s license offices following computer issues.

ITD has determined the system is stable enough to allow all offices to operate, with the exception of the Grangeville office, which remains closed.

Investigation into the root cause of the issues that began Tuesday continues, though the issues are contained to the ITD system, not county systems.  While the main cause is still undetermined, technicians have discovered a high volume of transactions is causing process speeds to slow down dramatically.  The department will limit the number of transactions each county can process to keep the system running while troubleshooting continues, which may lead to slower-than-normal transactions and delays for customers.

At this time, there is no estimate when the system will be restored to full functionality.  Registration and titling services remain unaffected.  (ITD)
