No one was injured when an explosive device was found outside the entrance of a north Lewiston hotel over the weekend.

According to the Lewiston Police Department, a Days Inn employee discovered what appeared to be a homemade bomb shortly after 1 o’clock Saturday afternoon.  The oblong-shaped object wrapped in electrical tape had a fuse sticking out of it, which prompted police to contact the Spokane bomb squad.

The device was successfully destroyed by the squad without detonation.

Investigators say the propellant contained within the device came from a commercial firework.  The case remains under investigation.  (Lewiston Tribune)
