Idaho’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell for the third consecutive month in May, dropping two-tenths of a percent to 3-point-2 percent.

According to Idaho Department of Labor, May’s unemployment drop is the result of 22-hundred Idahoans exiting the workforce or ending their work search.

Total employment dropped by 12-hundred while the total number of unemployed fell by 950.  Six of the state’s 11 industry sectors showed job declines including construction, as well as trade, transportation and utilities. Only three sectors showed job gains — professional and business services; education and health services; and other services.  Natural resources and government jobs were unchanged from April.

Nez Perce County’s unemployment rate was 2-point 6 percent; Clearwater County 7-and-a-half percent; Idaho County 4-point-9 percent; Latah County 2-point-6 percent; and Lewis County 5-point-7 percent.  (Idaho Department of Labor)
