Montana woman dies in rafting accident near Riggins

A Montana woman drowned in the LIttle Salmon River on Saturday near Riggins.

According to the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office, 31-year-old Lindsay Rice of Great Falls was riding on a Cataraft with another person when the both were spilled into the river.  The two were pulled from the water and CPR was started on Rice.

The Riggins Ambulance transported Rice to the Salmon River High School football field where a Life Flight crew pronounced her dead.

Investigators say Rice’s life vest may not have been properly secured and had come off when she was in the river.

The other person pulled from the water didn’t need medical help.  (Idaho County Sheriff’s Office)
