A Lewiston man has pleaded guilty to a charge of vehicular manslaughter in connection to a drunk driving accident on the Lewiston Levy Bypass that killed his girlfriend.

40-year-old Eric Siegler entered his plea Tuesday in 2nd District Court.  Siegler crashed his vehicle late at night last October near the railroad underpass, killing Katherine Bonner-Bande.

Siegler walked from the crash site to St, Joseph Regional Medical Center, where his blood-alcohol level measured point-1-2.

Under a plea agreement, Siegler pleaded guilty in exchange for a felony persistent violator enhancement being dropped.  The agreement calls for a 15-year prison sentence, including a fixed five years.

The deal, if agreed to by a judge in May, would allow Siegler to take part in a prison rider program, in which he could be on probation in a year.

He remains in the Nez Perce County Jail on a 150-thousand dollar bond.  (Lewiston Tribune)
